Lake Michigan Hag Stone Necklaces

Lake Michigan Hag Stone Necklaces

$25.00

Naturally formed. Naturally one-of-a-kind.

There’s something a little magical about finding a stone with a hole made entirely by nature.

Known as hag stones, holey stones, or witch stones, these unusual treasures are stones with naturally occurring holes that pass through them. Depending on the type of stone and environment, the holes may develop through erosion and weathering or through the activity of small boring organisms.

Each of our hag stones was hand-selected along the Lake Michigan shoreline and transformed into a simple, earthy necklace that lets the natural stone remain the star. Every necklace is finished with soft cording and its own coordinating bead, giving each piece a relaxed, organic, slightly bohemian feel.

✨ A little folklore…

Hag stones have been surrounded by folklore for centuries. They were traditionally carried or worn as protective talismans and were sometimes hung in homes, stables and even on boats. Folklore also held that looking through the naturally formed hole could reveal things normally unseen.

Whether you love the folklore or simply appreciate an incredible creation of nature, each one is a tiny piece of shoreline history that can never be duplicated.
